We were duped. Temu style.

We thought Teo was a Dutchie.

Turns out he’s… something.

We’re just not entirely sure what. But here is our honest review of our fur missile.

Upon delivery, product appeared exactly as advertised: handsome, athletic, friendly, and equipped with one floppy ear.

The first few days were promising.

Product walked nicely on leash.
Product crated well.
Product got along with other dogs.

Then the defects began to appear.

First, he launched himself onto a work computer, spilling coffee everywhere in the process.

Then he located his fuel supply, ripped open a brand-new bag of kibble, and attempted to achieve maximum capacity.

Most recently, he has declared war on houseplants, overturning pots and redecorating the house with dirt.

After extensive testing, we’re no longer convinced this is a Dutch Shepherd.

A real Dutch Shepherd would probably be solving complex problems and herding livestock.

Teo is over here making friends with strangers, collecting belly rubs, and wondering if maybe this rock he’s carrying around should come inside.

The weird part?

We absolutely adore him.

Because underneath the puppy nonsense is an incredible dog.

Teo loves people. He loves other dogs. He recently attended an event where he happily worked the crowd, making friends with everyone he met and proving he’s got a heart every bit as big as his personality.

He’s smart, eager to learn, and a total playgroup superstar. At around 8 months old, he’s still figuring life out, but he’s already showing all the signs of becoming an amazing companion.

And considering he was found alone on the side of a busy road as a tiny puppy, it’s pretty remarkable that he grew into a dog who still loves everyone he meets.

FINAL REVIEW

Cons:
Kibble enthusiast
Houseplant terrorist
Occasionally operates without a game plan

Pros:
Loves everyone
Great with dogs
Smart and trainable
Ridiculously handsome
One floppy ear
Heart of gold

Rating: 10/10

We thought we were getting a Dutch Shepherd.

Instead, we got Teo.

And honestly, we think we got the better deal.

Someone shot this dog in the neck and left him to die.

Out of a gaping hole, he nearly bled out alone.

Under a house, he cowered as blood pooled outside of his head. He had almost given up and quietly prepared to depart this life. Dehydrated, anemic and bloody, he was terrified of the kind woman who found him.

She coaxed him out, begging, pleading and finally carrying his limp body to the car. Then she reached out to everyone she knew, praying for a miracle. We attached the video she sent us in the comments 💔

We received this message an hour ago and immediately said yes. He was in a rural area, two hours away and a group of volunteers is driving him to Savannah Veterinary Emergency Clinic as fast as they can.

Ole Cletus, as we are calling him, is in bad shape. His breathing is unsteady and his neck is swollen. He is shaking. They were able to get him to eat some chicken and find a vet to give some basic pain medicine so they could get him to better care.

Cletus is old. His teeth are black. He has likely lived a terrible life and it almost ended with him knowing the absolute depths of humane cruelty.

But now he has a chance. A chance to live without pain, to know love and kindness and safety. He has a chance for his golden years to be the best of his life.

And we need your help. Cletus’s care won’t come cheap - an urgent hospitalization is costly and he will need emergency surgery costing thousands.

We could begin to say yes because of our Monthly Medical Donors, who give us the support to save the most wounded, sick and fragile dogs. If you can, please consider joining this lifesaving group. You can also call SVEC anytime -(912) 355-6113 - and donate directly to his care.

He will also need a medical foster and a whole lot of prayers. Please help us. Please save Cletus and help us give him the love he should have always known.
