This stunning patient came into our office initially bothered by heaviness and laxity in her upper eyelids. Dr. Elbert Cheng performed an Asian Upper Blepharoplasty to remove the excess skin while creating a natural-looking upper eyelid crease, restoring a brighter, more refreshed appearance without changing what made her eyes uniquely hers.

Swipe through her healing journey:
• Before surgery
• 7 days post-op
• 1 month post-op
• 1 year post-op

These photos are a reminder that eyelid surgery is a process, not an overnight transformation. At one week, it's completely normal to see swelling, redness, and a visible incision. By one month, much of the swelling has improved, but the tissues are still settling. At one year, the final result has emerged: a refreshed, natural-looking eyelid with scars that have softened dramatically and blend beautifully into the natural eyelid crease.

One of the most important parts of eyelid surgery isn't just the procedure itself: it's understanding the healing timeline. Every patient heals at their own pace, and allowing your body the time it needs is essential to achieving the best possible outcome.

Three months after lower blepharoplasty with fat repositioning and CO₂ laser resurfacing, this patient is finally seeing what she had hoped for after years of feeling self-conscious about her eyes.

One of the biggest misconceptions about eyelid surgery is that the goal is to make someone look different. It isn't. The goal is to remove the distractions that make you look more tired, older, or worn down than you feel.

For this patient, Dr. Elbert Cheng combined lower blepharoplasty with fat repositioning and CO₂ laser resurfacing because each procedure addresses a different part of the aging process.

Lower blepharoplasty with fat repositioning doesn't simply remove under-eye fat. Instead, it carefully redistributes that volume to soften the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek, reducing hollowness while smoothing puffiness. The result is a more seamless, youthful contour without creating a hollow or over-operated appearance.

CO₂ laser resurfacing complements the surgery by improving the quality of the skin itself. It stimulates collagen production, tightens crepey skin, and softens fine lines that surgery alone cannot address. Together, these treatments rejuvenate both the structure beneath the skin and the skin's surface.

The best cosmetic results don't announce themselves. Friends may notice you look well-rested or ask if you've been on vacation, without realizing you've had surgery.

At just three months, she's looking like herself: simply brighter, more refreshed, and more confident. As healing continues over the coming months, her results will continue to refine even further.

Natural isn't about doing less. It's about choosing the right combination of procedures to restore what time has changed while preserving what makes you uniquely you.

This patient came to Dr. Elbert Cheng with concerns about uneven eyelids. To improve symmetry, Dr. Cheng performed an Asian upper blepharoplasty on the right eye only.

At just 3 months post-op, his eyes already appear much more balanced, but his healing is still underway. Swelling can continue to improve for several more months, and it may take another 3–9 months for his final result to fully settle.

One of the most important parts of any surgical journey is patience. Recovery is a process, and subtle refinements continue to reveal themselves over time. Trusting the healing process is key to achieving the best possible outcome.
