The debasement trade isn’t a theory anymore. It’s showing up in price.
2026 is shaping up to be less about stock picking and more about what holds value when the measuring stick shrinks.
If you’re not tracking this, you’re already behind.
More from MoneyShow as this theme plays out.
Wall Street has a new problem: AI is getting too expensive to power.
The Trump administration and several state governors are pushing back against Big Tech, arguing they should cover more of the skyrocketing electricity costs tied to AI and data centers.

Midterm election years have a history of dragging on stocks, and 2026 may be no different.
Since 1960, the S&P 500 has averaged –1.1% in midterm cycles, with choppy markets from January through September and momentum returning only in early Q4.
But here’s the twist: pre-election years tend to surge, averaging +17.2%, and early sector rotations may already be signaling what comes next. Value stocks are gaining ground as expectations rise for a 3% Fed funds rate by summer, while tech has cooled.
Healthcare, energy, materials, and small caps are showing relative strength — a shift that traders shouldn’t ignore as market leadership changes.

Energy has been the market’s forgotten sector, until now. 📈
With the second-lowest P/E ratio in the S&P 500 and a dividend yield nearly 4x higher than the index, the iShares Global Energy ETF (IXC) is finally showing signs of life.
Large global oil companies are generating record free cash flow, ramping up buybacks and dividends, and benefiting from oil prices sitting near the bottom of their yearly range. That combination is creating a powerful setup for upside.
IXC has already broken through resistance and continues to climb, with analysts eyeing a move toward $61 and beyond.
