Response Technologies recently provided 16 hours of didactic and hands-on training for Indian River County's Hazardous Materials Response Team. During day one responders were challenged with a variety of unknown materials to determine the classification of hazards and ultimately the identification of the substances using identification technologies such as the Rigaku CQL Raman analyzer. During day two, personnel worked on improving their response skills with hands-on training in topics such as hybrid decontamination, v***r and liquid propane flaring, hazard analysis and PPE selection and the control of petroleum leaks from DOT406 cargo tanks and chlorine railcars using Response Technologies extensive cache of training props.
Funding for this program was provided by the Treasure Coast Local Emergency Planning Council. Response Technologies is proud to partner with Industrial Scientific, Rigaku, and First Line Technologies to help provide high level training for these responders.
