PLEASURES

Crazy that it’s already been 10 years since we released our first full length record “Fu**ed Up Dreams Come True”. I thought it’d be nice to share what I remember from the sessions.

We recorded it after doing two EPs, The Rub and Pressures, which were essentially demo versions of the songs that would make up FUDCT. Our original lineup of Katherine Kelly, Morgan Soltes, Michael Murphy, and Greg Ferris were rehearsing, performing shows out of, and living in a non air conditioned warehouse space in Sarasota, Florida that we built out to be our own. Our buddies Michael Regina and Joseph Mallah worked as engineers on the record to take off a little stress from the band, as up to that point we were totally doing everything on our own. Since all these songs were already written, we got everything down and recorded within a pretty quick window if I remember correctly. Final mixes were done with and Greg, Joseph, and I in Joseph’s Miami apartment over a weekend, and we mastered the record with Rat Bastard, who we sweetened up with a 12 pack of El Presidente beer. Rat’s South Beach studio was really something incredible. He had converted his apartment into a full on studio space complete with isolation booths, a grand piano, and some of the weirdest gear you’d ever see. The end result was a raw but honest version of ourselves at the time that I still love listening to. We had our friend Nick Sirotich do our artwork. He would continue to do our art for our following two full length albums because we loved so much what he did with it.
