Mosaic Movements
We are deeply grateful. 31 donors helped Mosaic Movements raise $2,355 in our first-ever Give 8/28 campaign.
This milestone is not just about the dollars given, but about what it represents: a community that believes in our vision to center BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists, resource their creativity, and ensure they are paid for their labor.
The road has not been easy, but this support inspires us to keep moving forward. Our focus now is raising $250,000 this year to build structures of sustainability that will allow Mosaic Movements to thrive for years to come.

Today is the Day.
Mosaic Movements stands in the proud tradition of Black-led organizations that have carried forward justice, equity, and cultural survival with few resources but unwavering determination. Our work continues this legacy—fighting for truth, visibility, and liberation through the arts.
Give 8/28 is a national day of giving created to uplift Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits—organizations that are too often underfunded but uniquely positioned to meet the needs of their communities.
August 28 carries deep history:
👉🏾 Emmett Till (1955): His murder ignited the Civil Rights Movement.
👉🏾 March on Washington (1963): Dr. King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech.
👉🏾 Barack Obama (2008): Accepted the Democratic nomination for president, breaking barriers in representation.
👉🏾 Other events: The passage of the Slavery Abolition Act in 1833 and the passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020.
These moments remind us that the struggle for liberation continues. Supporting Black-led organizations today is one way we carry this fight forward.
Your support of Mosaic Movements is both an act of resistance and solidarity—helping sustain BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists and the stories that deserve to be heard.

If our stories disappear, who will carry the truth forward?
At Mosaic Movements, we believe generosity is more than giving—it’s sustaining the lifeblood of cultural resistance and community transformation.
We were founded to build a liberatory arts ecosystem led by and for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities across Sarasota and Manatee. In Florida’s current political climate—where education and the arts are under attack, books are banned, DEI is dismantled, freedom of speech is censored, rights are stripped away, and immigrant communities are targeted—our work stands as a counterforce.
In the face of censorship and erasure, we choose creation and connection—through performances, artist development programs, youth initiatives, and storytelling projects that ensure truth, memory, and resilience thrive.
Your support makes this possible. Help us reach our $50K Give 8/28 goal to keep our artists creating, our youth imagining, and our communities remembering.

Sometimes you wake up wondering if you’re doing the right thing, if you’re headed in the right direction. But then you see how people are benefiting from your work, and the community support that surrounds you—it’s always affirming to know you’re doing what you love, creating a positive impact, and supporting artists.
I’m so excited and grateful to be featured in the Herald Tribune for Mosaic Movements’ Creative Nexus Series—an artist development platform in partnership with WSLR+Fogartyville, Emerge Sarasota, and other incredible local organizations and artists. This journey has been humbling, and it continues to teach me so much about myself as both an artist and a community organizer.
I’m excited, grounded, and homebound—grateful to be learning from others at the table and growing in ways I never imagined.
