It's a hot one today! Predictions are for a hotter-than-normal summer (what's normal these days anyway??). Your plants are thirsty. If you had a rainwater collection system, you could be irrigating with clean rainfall from this past winter. Call us to learn more.

There's still time for our May Plant of the Month: MEXICAN SNOWBALL (Echevaria elegans). As we head into our seasonal dry spell, what better time to feature this lovely drought-friendly succulent. Native to the semi-deserts of Mexico, the snowball forms beautiful rose-like flower clusters. Blooms appear on long stems in spring and summer. Perfect for your low-water landscape and fire resistant zero-zone plantings.

Home grown vs. store bought: which veggies are best for your garden? Onions? Nah - they take 4-6 months to mature and occupy precious space the whole time. Plus store bought ones are cheap, plentiful and taste fine. But TOMATOES? The flavor difference is epic. Other best bets:
SALAD GREENS/LETTUCE. Fresh and well-suited for our climate. No more limp, slimy bags from the store.
SNAP/SNOW PEAS. Fast growing, tolerates cool fog. So fresh and crunchy.
CUCUMBERS. Come in a wide range of varieties: pickling, lemon, Persian, Armenian and many more. Produce abundantly. Flavor can't compare to the store.
The rest of our top picks? ZUCCHINI/SUMMER SQUASH. KALE & CHARD. SNAP (GREEN) BEANS. CULINARY HERBS. ... Don't forget to grow organically and water appropriately in early A.M. or P.M. We can include a beautiful organic vegetable garden as part of your design, so please give us a call!
