It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Marcus Ziemer.

Marcus had a profound impact on Santa Rosa United, Sonoma State, and the soccer community across Northern California. For over three decades, he shaped generations of players, coaches, and leaders, but more importantly, he built lasting relationships that extended far beyond the game.

Marcus’s connection to SRU runs deep. As a coach, mentor, and parent, his influence helped shape the culture and values that define our club today. His coaching tree lives on within our community, in our players, coaches, and families.

Marcus believed the game was about more than wins and losses. It was about people, relationships, and the experiences that stay with you long after the final whistle.

He was a legend in the game, but an even better mentor, leader, and man.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
