The Sonoma County Deputy Sheriffs' Association (DSA) was founded in order to better support law enforcement efforts and community protection in Sonoma County and the State of California. The DSA membership is comprised of over 225 sworn Sheriff’s Deputies working for the County of Sonoma, as well as several hundred retired Deputies. These men and women are dedicated to public service and the prote

ction of life and property, both on and off duty. The DSA is guided by a Board of Directors consisting of 5 corporation officers and another 10 elected directors at-large chosen by our general membership to represent their individual work areas. This Board meets each month to discuss issues affecting our organization, employees and the community. Solutions are developed that seek to contribute in a meaningful ways with the goal of improving the quality of life for our members and community. All our members are encouraged and usually take part in helping the Board in developing these solutions and bringing them out to the streets where they serve the public. The DSA is proud to promote professionalism, build camaraderie between the public and our membership, provide a forum for work-related and social activities for our members and their families, and represent our members in a positive light for our community. We use our resources to develop and disseminate important information that will benefit the community and our members. We recognize the outstanding service from our members and members of our community who routinely go above and beyond what is normally expected of them and praise them accordingly. The DSA is a non-profit organization who is the voice for its members and strive to give the community a chance to better know their law enforcement partners. We support any action that will make our community a safer, better place to live including youth sports programs, important social events, and we support meaningful public safety initiatives through political activism. The Sonoma County Deputy Sheriffs' Association is dedicated to the safety and betterment of Sonoma County and we look forward to serving our members and you, the public, today, tomorrow and beyond.

Sonoma Man Arrested for Narcotics Sales

On May 2, 2026, at approximately 8:08 p.m., detectives with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit served a search warrant in the 100 block of Vista Drive in Sonoma, following a months-long narcotics investigation.

Detectives knocked and announced their presence at the front door. When an individual inside the residence shut and locked the door, denying entry, detectives forced entry. Multiple individuals were detained during the investigation.

During the search, detectives located over one pound of suspected co***ne, U.S. currency, narcotics packaging materials, a firearm, and ammunition in the master bedroom.

Detectives arrested 44-year-old Cristian Castaneda for the sale of narcotics and booked him into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility. After being processed, he was released on a citation in accordance with current zero-bail policies.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office remains dedicated to fighting illegal drug activity through ongoing enforcement efforts, aiming to protect the community and uphold public safety.
