This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. - Psalm 118:24

I had a special grandmother who said that her mother would wake her up with this scripture every morning but would add “IT’S A CHOICE”.

So simple, but so true. Some days we have to make a choice to have joy. When we remember all that the Lord has done for us, when we fix our eyes on the Him, we can have genuine gratitude and joy in the midst of any circumstance. Because He is good and His steadfast love endures forever (1 Chronicles 16:34).

Let us rejoice and be glad, let us thank Him and praise His glorious name today and always!

We do not just serve a God that is only around for “the big stuff” or who is too busy to listen to His creation, He actually hears our voice and bends down to listen to us!

In the Hebrew, the word translated “he hears” (NLT) or “he has heard” (NKJV) is šāmaʿ/shâmaʻ which means-to hear intelligently (often with implication of attention, obedience, attentively.) The word translated “bends down” in the NLT or “has inclined (His ear)” in the NKJV is nāṭâ which, in this context, means-to stretch out, extend, stretch, bend down. So the psalmist is saying that the Lord listens attentively to us with a desire to answer and He reaches out to us. He comes down to meet us where we are to be close to us.

Just like a father would kneel down on the level of his child to hear their needs, fully expecting to meet those needs, our Heavenly Father bends down, listens closely, and answers.

Doesn’t this just blow you away?! How could we not love and serve a God like our God?!

If you are feeling unheard or forgotten today, remember to cry out to Jehovah Shamma (the Lord is Present)! He longs to draw near, listen, and answer.
