My wife and I bought our home (we still live there) in May of '97. My daughter Cari had just started dancing flamenco and was going to take part in performances for Fiesta. We were so excited to be qualified for a 30-year fixed mortgage at... 7.25%! Hmmm, that is where we are with lending institutions today. Two or three years later we refinanced for another 30-year fixed and a friend excitedly asked, "Dude, you got 6%?!"
