Deputy Michael Jimerson of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed in the line of duty on Easter Sunday while responding to a disturbance call.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather — he left behind a loving family who will never see him walk through the door again.

For 16 years, Deputy Jimerson served his community with courage, putting his life on the line every single day to protect the innocent.

This is exactly why I have such deep respect for the men and women in law enforcement. They run toward danger when most people run away.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren as they face this unimaginable loss.
