Pride Month reminds us that belonging matters. Not because everyone has the same experiences, beliefs, or perspectives, but because meaningful relationships are built when people approach one another with curiosity, compassion, and respect.

Whether you’re attending Pride as an ally, supporting someone you love, or exploring your own identity, there is room to learn, grow, and connect.

At Wasatch Family Therapy, we believe everyone deserves a space where they feel seen, supported, and accepted. Appointments are available with Andréa Martin and other members of our team.

Many parents fear they will say the wrong thing when a child comes out to them. Especially in religious families, these conversations can bring up confusion, grief, fear, or uncertainty about the future.

But support does not require perfection.

Research shows that LGBTQ+ youth who feel accepted at home have significantly better mental health outcomes. Often, what matters most is not having all the answers right away, but creating a relationship where a child still feels safe, loved, and connected while the family learns and grows together.

Sometimes support looks quieter than people expect. Listening without immediately correcting or fixing. Staying curious instead of shutting down. Making room for difficult conversations while continuing to communicate, “You belong here.”

Many parents also discover that supporting their child does not mean abandoning their faith or values. For some families, these experiences ultimately deepen compassion, strengthen relationships, and create more honest connection within the home.
