Constitution Square, Shattuck Ave
This project was an Entrance Upgrades to remove a steep slope into some of the entrances and provide level landings. Coordination of efforts with BART, the neighbor, when the plaza was regraded. The BART plaza is on top of the underground network, but the building and entrances are on grade. Grocery Store Energy Upgrade and TI - Whole Foods Market, 414 Miller Ave., Mill Valley, CA

This project was a design-build effort between the client Whole Foods Market, the contractor Building Services / System Maintenance Incorporated, various subcontractors, and Cooley Architectural Corporation. The remodel included the back-of-house area of the existing grocery store and a replacement all of the mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems in order to upgrade them and provide energy efficiency... while keeping the store OPEN! The mechanical platform was expanded and seismically retrofitted in order to create enough space for the upgraded equipment to be surrounded by a 14’ high sound wall. This was required by the upgrades in order to meet the City of Mill Valley’s strict noise ordinance, which had been updated since the last remodel. Since the store shares a property line with the residential zone, its equipment is quieter at night than the surrounding ambient noise level! The back-of-house area was redesigned for better flow and organization of the office areas and walk-in coolers and features a walk-in freezer with thermally isolated columns that support the existing storage mezzanine.
