Do you know the difference between tsunami alerts? 🚨
Understanding alerts can save lives:
🔴 Warning: A strong tsunami is likely to cause damage. Evacuate to higher ground immediately.
🟠Advisory: Dangerous currents and waves expected. Stay out of the water and away from beaches and coastlines.
🟡 Watch: Tsunami not yet verified but possible. Stay alert for updates and be ready to act.
Alerts may come through phones, sirens, or radio, but sometimes natural warning signs are the first signal, like strong shaking or sudden changes to water conditions.
When in doubt: 👉 Get to high ground. Don’t wait.
Know what the alerts mean before you need them.Â
