It’s Earth Day. 🌎 I am more and more amazed by the non-human intelligence that is all around us: how trees communicate, smell, hear, and care for each other; how whales, when they’re ready to die, fall to the bottom of the ocean to become food and energy for new life…
We humans think we’re so damn smart, and the reality is we, as a whole, are more destructive than loving to our great Mother. 🌍 Our selfishness has fed a desire to distance ourselves from the life around us, instead of living in partnership with it. We take and take and take, and show little if any gratitude. When will we prioritize giving? When will we focus on gratitude? When will we remember we’re not better than nor separate from the rest of this gorgeous, suffering planet?
May we celebrate this beautiful, floating rock we call home — the only one we have.
I had a BLAST conducting the Colorado All-State Mixed Choir this year! They worked so hard, shared so much of themselves, told the story of the music with great depth, and built a beautiful community.
My super-cool headset microphone seemed like one would use…so it was as affectionately named “Britney” and became our mascot (hence the chant here…). 🤣
