Two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the Utah National Guard landed at the Army Reserve’s Fort Douglas this morning, a rare sight in Salt Lake City. The historic Army post has been part of the U.S. military’s presence in the city for more than 160 years and will transition fully to the University of Utah this summer.

University of Utah Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) cadets, part of the Army’s future officer corps and a key commissioning source for the Total Force, conducted air movement training, completing multiple lifts from the installation’s landing zone.

The training highlights the long-standing partnership between the Army Reserve, the University of Utah, and the Utah National Guard, built on decades of shared history, training, and service.

As Fort Douglas prepares to hand over its remaining acreage and Army Reserve units relocate to Camp Williams, this operation may represent the final opportunity to see military aircraft operating from this installation in Salt Lake City. 🚁 🇺🇸
