CWA - Salinas Valley Chapter

SV CWA members enjoyed an interesting and educational tour of Apricot King in Hollister June 27th. It was the busy season for Apricot King, but co-owner, Jenny Gonzales, graciously shared the process from growing to sales. Many processes are mechanized, however much human labor is still needed. It was beautiful to see all the apricots drying in the sun both slab and pitted whole apricots. Apricot King also grows walnuts, pears and plums that they use in their dried fruit packages.

Attendees tasted a variety of apricots treats – fresh, dried and dipped in chocolate plus Apricot King’s dried pears, plums and walnuts. After the tour, attendees were excited to purchase products at the walk up store.

Last week the Salinas Valley California Women for Agriculture had strong representation at CA Ag Woman of the Year ()!
