This year i want to encourage everyone to try something new that will add to your beautiful life. Maybe take an online course, try a new daily habit, or push yourself to new heights. This year i signed up to hike 6 summits. A group called Six pack of Peaks - central Oregon - supports a great program to help kids get out and explore the great outdoors. I am pushing myself to reach all 6 summits. I have already reached 1 of 6- 5 more to go. What is your goal this year? Come to Journey Through Healing Chiropractic Center to meet me and see if chiropractic can help you reach your goal.

Joryville Park just 15 to 20 minutes south of downtown Salem. (approximately 7 miles) It is located just off Jory Hill Road S, which can be accessed via Liberty or Skyline Road. This is a nice area to do a little uphill walking/hiking. There area lot of little loop options that can give you short half mile to maybe 2-3 mile loop options. This is a great picnic area with tables and a pit toilet. This is small hill with about 250 ft of elevation gain to the top. If you need to work on your leg muscles or do a nice short warm up hike before heading out on your day, this is a really nice area to go. My 11 year old son enjoyed exploring this park with me. The top offers beautiful views of the south Salem hillside. The route we took was about 1.5 miles in length and the downhill was a bit steep on the trail we chose. The flat picnic area would be a fantastic place to sit and read a book or enjoy a gathering of friends and or family.
I love finding place like this for my own family and sharing it with my patients. Walking and or hiking has a dramatic effect on your health and outlook on life. I encourage you to push your limits a little and explore this unique Marion County park and enjoy the view at the top.

I love finding these outdoor gems. As a chiropractor I love talking about health, exercise, and helping people discover and experience improved wellbeing. I normally try and find local easy walking hikes but since I spend a lot of my own personal hiking time in the Columbia Gorge, I had to share this amazing place.
Lacamas Lake Regional park. This gorgeous park is approximately 70 miles North of downtown Salem in the city of Camas, Washington. There are a variety of trials to choose from. There are small lakes to enjoy as well as loop trails that allow you to see the hills and a few waterfalls. The trail I took was a 4 mile loop full of spectacular forest areas, lake views, streams, and two waterfalls. There is also an opportunity to take a higher loop that has an overlook of one of the lakes. There are flush toilets and play structures. I saw families playing on the lake with rafts as well as stand up paddle boards. There is a system of bike trails in the area as well. I encourage you to get out, explore, and see what paths you can find. Hiking, biking, walking, running, or just fun family time improves your health. Be safe and carry plenty of water with you when outdoors this summer.
