The Mid-Valley Small Farms Program serves commercial small farm entrepreneurs as well as non-commercial small acreage landowners. Our focus embraces both organic/biological and conventional farming systems and emphasizes these areas:

Tuesday June 30th 8:30am - 2:30pm Stayton Oregon
Join us for a combination of indoor presentation/discussion (90 minutes) and a field tour of post-fire recovery sites (4 hours). Workshop goals are to 1) help incorporate plans for post-fire recovery in your woodland management plans, and 2) share lessons-learned from past fire recovery efforts to improve preparedness for the future.

• Assessing your risk
• Making a plan – set goals and plan actions needed in the event of a wildfire
• Getting practiced –options and methods for addressing post-fire woodland management needs

• Learning from landowner experiences after the 2020 wildfires.

Preparation:
• Please bring your own lunch and refreshments for the field tour.
• Dress for the weather, wear boots for walking in the woods.
• Be prepared to carpool in a van or possibly ride share with another participant.

🌱 FREE Field Day - Scenic Valley Farms in Oregon | June 16

Join , and fellow agricultural professionals in the field to explore conservation practices that strengthen pest control, improve water quality, and build climate resilience on western farms. s

Scenic Valley Farm is committed to conserving water resources through dry-farming their vines and hops. They also support biodiversity through cover cropping and providing songbird nest boxes and bat houses.

The event will feature sessions on beneficial birds and pest management, beneficial insects for vineyards, cover crops, dryland farming, habitat installation and a guided farm tour.
