Merry Christmas from House District 23! I’m so grateful for the families, small businesses, and community members who make our district such a special place to call home. Wishing you a season filled with peace, joy, and time with the people you love.

December 7, 1941, a quiet morning in Hawaii that quickly changed the course of our nation. A tropical paradise and US military installation where lives were shattered, innocence was lost, and heroes were made.

In the smoke and chaos of Pearl Harbor, ordinary Americans rose with extraordinary courage, sailors, soldiers, nurses, and civilians. They faced unimaginable scenes that day with bravery and honor.

Many never came home. Others carried the weight of that day for a lifetime. Yet all of them left behind a legacy for us to learn from.

Very few of those soldier remain alive today. For the first time ever, none of the survivors were in attendance at the annual memorial event today at Pearl Harbor.

So, today, we bow our heads in solemn remembrance. We grieve for the fallen. We honor the few remaining survivors, and we promise that their courage will never be forgotten. They gave everything so that we could live free.

All I can say is our Gov. has choices.

The minority party has said this for 6+ months. ODOT workers DO NOT have to lose their jobs. Roads CAN BE plowed. The money is ALREADY in the budget, but Tina is chosing things that the majority of Oregonians don't want instead of roads and workers.

It's time for a change in our state and it starts with ODOT.

Last week, I sat through a three-hour-long committee meeting listening to Oregon bureaucrats talk about all their priorities and how they want to spend your money. One of their top priorities? Getting Oregonians to drive electric cars and spending their money on electric chargers. Tens of millions of your tax dollars are spent every year to subsidize EVs and their charging networks. $70 MILLION for Pete’s sake. This is just one slide and one program - you know there’s more. Budgets are about priorities, and it's clear what Kotek and the Democrats' priorities are. When Kotek says Republicans don't have solutions for ODOT funding, she's either lying or needs to fire her Comms team, as they apparently don’t watch the news. All we had were solutions. She just didn’t like them. She'll say anything so she doesn't have to defend her misplaced priorities of funding EV subsidies over basic road maintenance, like plowing and paving. She'd rather raise your taxes than make hard decisions about her own priorities. Good thing it looks like Oregonians will have the final say on that.
