Meet Jasmine, a senior majoring in Journalism and Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management with minors in Sustainability Studies and Creative Writing 🌎
This summer, Jasmine is working as an Energy Workforce Development Engagement Intern with Renewable Energy Partners, where she is helping assess potential sites for future solar energy projects. She has also enjoyed developing online tools that calculate potential electricity savings based on roof size and other site factors, making solar energy more accessible and understandable for communities.

Meet Carson, a senior studying Forest and Natural Resource Management with a minor in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management .
This summer, Carson is spending his second field season with the Silva Lab as a Field Technician in the Pagami Creek Burn Area within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. His work includes conducting vegetation surveys and collecting soil samples to help researchers better understand how forests recover and build resilience after wildfire.
Carson says courses like Dendrology and the Introductory Cloquet Field Session helped him build strong plant identification and field data collection skills that he now uses in the field every day.

Located right across the street from the Bell Museum on the St. Paul campus, the garden serves as a vital space to connect, learn, and honor the deep connections Indigenous communities have to the land.
