Founded as a five-and-dime store by John and Beth Hurst in 1946, Hurst Variety Store operated successfully for 10 years in Panguitch, Utah. Ross Hurst, her oldest son became actively involved in management. Expansion followed and the store moved from Main Street to its present location in 1973. Today Hurst Stores owns and operates ACE Hardware and specialty retail stores throughout the state of Utah.
