Harry Bertoia was born in northern Italy in 1915, and immigrated to the USA in 1930. He attended Cranbrook Art Academy, where he met many influential fellow artists, architects, and designers and expanded his world. Harry Bertoia grew up in rural Italy, San Lorenzo, until age 15. This is the property with the barn. There were three families living under one roof; chickens and a cow in the barn. A simple life. Similar to his later life in Pennsylvania.
