This weekend we got an urgent request to help a blind Cocker Spaniel with Camp Cocker Rescue - so of course we dropped everything to phone consult immediately.

We are working with Lumi virtually now in a package to help him transition into his new, adoptive home located in Tucson, AZ.

Transitions can be difficult on dogs, and especially for special needs companions. Lumi came from South Korea, had surgery to remove his eyes due to a medical condition, spent limited time with a few different fosters, and then to an adoptive home. It is a lot of upheaval!

We are focusing on building trust, consent for handling, and basic life skills - and also addressing ways to help a blind dog navigate safely in a new environment. We are teaching the humans how to modify interactions and training to suit this special needs boy.
