And that’s a wrap!

The Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force, in partnership with the Saginaw Valley State University School of Social Work, and Youth Wise successfully hosted a 2-day Train the Trainer Certification.

Our incredible trainers represented a powerful multidisciplinary collaboration, including survivors, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, law enforcement professionals, Operation Underground Railroad, Ellie Mental Health, SANE nursing professionals, Henry Ford Hospital, Pastor/Advocates, Farm Worker Legal Services and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services representatives.

Participants joined us from NGOs, NPOs, and state agencies, bringing their experience and passion to the table. Together, we engaged the collective wisdom in the room to strengthen collaboration, increase awareness, support the prosecution of offenders, identify victims, and make every effort to help individuals move from victimization to survivorship.

The Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force proudly offers Victim-Centered, Evidence-Based, Trauma-Informed training twice each year, and CEUs were provided for attendees.

Thank you to every trainer, participant, and partner who continues this critical work. Together, we are building stronger communities through education, collaboration, and action.

As we prepare for the Anti-Human Trafficking Summit at Saginaw Valley State University, we’re making copies, checking the agenda, gathering resources, and… filling essential oil bottles for the tables. Why?

Because these are the people doing the work — survivor leaders, law enforcement, medical professionals, social workers, advocates, and community leaders — listening deeply for two full days before returning to the invaluable work of prevention, intervention, and restoration.

Recently, at a survivor event we attended, Judge Robert Lung — a judge, advocate, and male survivor — placed essential oils at every table with a simple invitation:
"When the stories become heavy, pause. Breathe. Step outside. Reset your nervous system. Take good care so you can continue bringing good care."

Sometimes healing work begins with something as small as returning to our senses.
How do you care for yourself so you can continue caring for others?
