I am so thankful for my new friend, fellow poet, and (retired) educator, Scot Young, who recently asked if I would like to submit a few poems for possible inclusion on his excellent poetry blog/magazine, Rusty Truck Zine. My poems “To the Students of the Mount Pleasant Indian Industrial Boarding School (1893-1934),” “Thoughts When the News Dropped That After 43 Years of Waiting, We’d Finally Get to Hear Springsteen’s Electric Nebraska,” “Happily Married in Sweatpants,” and “Lost in America” are now featured on the Rusty Truck website! Splake, a friend of Scot’s, wrote an email to him with the above quote and mentioned my poems. A big honor for two reasons: 1. I know of Splake and his reputation as a literary mind and poet and 2. Allen Ginsberg’s poems are everything to me. His body of work, more than that of any other writer, is the reason why I became a fan of poetry at all.
