The original solar pump company located in Safford was founded in 1985 under the name of SolarJack. It was sold to Photocomm in 1996 which included a 5 year non-compete clause. SolarJack remained at the Safford location for three years and then it was moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. In 2001, after the non-compete clause expired, SunPumps, Inc. started manufacturing solar pumps again in the original
