What are your plans for The Inaugural International Social Emotional Learning Day? Please come join us as we raise awareness for the importance of SEL. Perhaps we can lower the incidences of su***de in Middle School students in the State of New Jersey.
March 27, 2020 marks the inaugural International Social Emotional Learning Day. I am a former teacher of 30 years with many assemblies and accolades on my resume. My current mission to to raise awareness of the importance of Social Emotional Learning. My goal is to help build the self confidence of children so they can be strong and successful.
In addition to my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, I also have my Masters in Administration and Supervision and am currently completing the certificate program with the College of St Elizabeth in Social Emotional Learning. I have organized an interactive assembly with our students at Morris County EduCare that we are kicking off on International Social Emotional Learning Day.
Our program, titled “We Can Rise Up”, takes students back to their early childhood by pointing out the struggles of “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “The Little Engine That Could” and empowers them to rise up above any struggles that comes their way.
We can get our message across NJ on International SEL Day.What better time to kick off this message than on the First International Social Emotional Learning Day!
Since 2001, we at EduCare have witnessed the benefits that a social emotional curriculum can have in our School. According to The Pennsylvania State University and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, “Social Emotional Learning in the early years demonstrates immediate and long-term positive outcomes.” We have taken this one step further as we utilize our littles to spread the word to others.
We are inviting Governor Murphy to come with us as we present “We Rise Up” to student bodies across New Jersey. We are planning to present at 2 schools in New Jersey on the actual day but can accommodate other schools after our initial performance.
If you know of any schools who could benefit from our assembly please spread the word. Have them contact me to schedule a performance.
