Thelma and Louise (1991)
Rejected by many studios for being too violent/shocking for a female led movie, its screenplay, by Texan Callie Khouri, was picked up by Ridley Scott in 1990 and made into an American masterpiece.
Scott saw the script as a modern Western rather than the âchick-flickâ it was written off as.
Despite major criticism, it drew both women and men to theaters to alike. It was an incredible box office success, so much so that it even launched the career of Brad Pitt, leading to his role in âA River Runs Though Itâ.
