Any time you get an "official" email of any sort, look it over carefully. This one would be funny except that it's a phishing attack (per google), although it might have as easily been just a scam. Let's run through it.

1. The from address in the email is bogus. we've never heard of peeltournamentDOTorg, and sending something like this from our domain name (ninerealmspress.com) makes no sense, either.
2. The ominous sounding but vague language in the body is a dead giveaway. If any legitimate vendor sent us something worded like this we would immediately re-evaluate whether we wanted to work with them at all.
3. The link was to yet another domain we never heard of, and certainly have no business relationship with. It was removed to prevent anyone from inadvertently clicking on it. If anyone cares, it was "selectthesalonDOTcom".
4. After the text body we were supposed to see, there were a bunch of blank lines, followed by gibberish. We have removed the blank lines to make the gibberish more noticeable. This is another dead giveaway- garbage meant to fool a certain class of spam filters.
5. A probe of selectthesalonDOTcom reveals that they have "exceeded their bandwidth limit". This likely means (a) they bought a cheap domain and enough people fell for the scam that they are offline, (b) annoyed internet vigilantes hit them with a DDOS attack, or (c) their provider shut them down. We'll hope it wasn't (a).

This isn't the only enemy out there, but make no mistake, they are out to steal your information or straight up scam your money. Know your enemies.
