If you want a powerful, injury-resistant upper body that translates to your sport, you need to stop neglecting horizontal pulling. Enter: The Inverted Row (sometimes called a bar pull or bodyweight row).
While everyone loves the bench press and pull-ups, the Inverted Row is the ultimate secret weapon for structural balance, protecting your shoulders, and building a bulletproof upper back.
Here is exactly how to lock in your form for maximum force transfer:
πΉ The Setup: Set a barbell in a rack at roughly waist height. Lie flat on your back underneath it. Grip the bar slightly wider than shoulder-width using an overhand grip.
πΉ The Ex*****on:
1οΈβ£ Lock the Kinetic Chain: Before you pull, squeeze your glutes and brace your core. Your body should form a perfectly straight line from your ears down to your ankles. No sagging hips allowed.
2οΈβ£ Drive the Elbows: Pull your chest directly to the bar by driving your elbows down toward the floor. Think about pinching a tennis ball between your shoulder blades at the top.
3οΈβ£ Control the Negative: Don't just drop back down. Control the descent until your arms are fully extended, maintaining total core tension the entire time.
