affected. I especially like working with children with ADHD and those on the Autism Spectrum. I focus on helping them see the strengths in their nonstandard ways of being in the world, on how to cope with the expectations of the "normal" world, and how to succeed. Depression, anxiety, anger, and social isolation are not limited to adults. I would argue that these issues are, if anything, more intense for children and adolescents. Children can understand anything, can change anything, if it is presented to them consistent with their developmental level. And parents are the best therapists. I also see young adults who are having the 20-something version of developmental issues: College adjustment, getting started in careers and relationships, transitioning from parental homes and guidance, etc. And I see adults for AD/HD evaluations and for parenting issues (two other developmental issues, when you think about it).
