• Temperatures and wind chills this weekend will be dangerously cold — this is not normal Missouri cold, this is “why do I live here?” cold.
• Limit time outdoors and layer up — if you can see your breath inside the house, that’s a problem.
• Space heaters should be kept at least 3 feet from anything that can burn. If it’s glowing, smoking, or looks sketchy… don’t use it.
• Never use ovens, grills, or generators indoors for heat. Carbon monoxide doesn’t care how cold it is.
• Check on elderly neighbors and those without reliable heat — Missouri takes care of its own.
• Pets belong inside. If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them.
• Vehicles may struggle — dead batteries, frozen fuel lines, and the classic “it started yesterday” problem.
