May is a pretty magical month fishing when the conditions are right.
Mitch and Stephanie Bloss were celebrating their one year anniversary. I had the privilege in helping them mark off another bucket list item. Catch a Beaver Lake Striper! It didn’t take long Saturday morning, Walking the Dog with a Zara spook topwater. Stephanie lost her Striper to a tree. So I took them out the next morning and on the last cast she caught a good one!
K-Cove Connections — An Early 70’s Story
By Steve Knox
Looking back to the early 70’s, camping was simple.
A tent, sleeping bags, a little food — and we were happy.
During that time my family lived in Muldrow, Oklahoma. It seemed like we came to K-Cove almost every weekend. Sometimes we brought friends to share in the fun.
One weekend, my dad invited Jerry Underwood and his family. His two boys were about the age of me and my brother. Jerry and my dad worked together at the Regional Education Service Center in Sallisaw.
Jerry’s oldest son, Phillip, decided to climb the big rock in front of our camp. He fell and had to be rushed to the emergency room. Thankfully, he survived.
Here’s the interesting part…
Jerry had a younger brother named Stephen, who married Carol Shatswell. They had four children.
One of those children would later become very famous.
By now, you can probably figure out who. 👀
“Nine decades of breath, and still the music flows.”
“The harmonica doesn’t age — it just gathers wisdom.”
