First Unitarian Church of Rochester

Today, as our nation marks Independence Day, we hold both gratitude and complexity.

We give thanks for the ideals of freedom, democracy, and the ongoing promise of a country where all people are created equal. We also recognize that this promise has never been fully realized for everyone.

As Unitarian Universalists, we are called not only to celebrate freedom, but to help make it real through justice, compassion, courage, and love.

May this day invite us into deeper reflection, renewed commitment, and a shared vision of a country where liberty and dignity belong to all.
