Back in 1978, our grandfather installed one of the first geothermal systems in Upstate NY. Everyone told him it would never catch on. Fast-forward 47 years, and we're still carrying on his legacy. This project was a special one not only was it for his cousin, but she specifically wanted to keep the install in the family. Our grandfather installed the original WaterFurnace back in 1995.

It was important to her that the upgrade stayed "in the family," and we were honored to help. We replaced the old Water furnace with a new Geostar Water-to-Air Sycamore, which is 35-40% more efficient. We also upgraded the flow center with a variable pump for more efficiency and installed two new 50-gallon tanks that use the geothermal system to pre heat the water. And we installed a Geostar Symphony with Wi-Fi thermostats, giving them total control through the phone and giving us 24/7 access to the unit for any service needs. And a 39$ cooling bill for August.

We're excited to see if we can get to 100 years of geothermal experience in our family!

We love a good solution to a big problem. This family was stuck using coal for heat and had no A/C, so we installed a Gree multi-zone mini split heat pump. Now they can enjoy comfortable heating and cooling, and save that coal for emergencies. Another great project for 4th Gen Mechanical.
