My main page is "You Can Sing Now! Voice Lessons in Rochester, NY". My approach is to teach the basics of good technique- to help each student to understand how his or her voice works- and then teach the student to apply good vocal technique to whatever style of music they are interested in. I help my students to identify and fix any and all problems in their technique, correcting issues
with nasality, lack of clarity and power, poor diction, musical weaknesses and singing out of tune. I have also had great success in helping people who think that they are tone-deaf to learn to match pitch and sing in tune. I have helped many people who thought they could not sing to learn to do so. Some students have a lot of performance experience (such as performing with a band or in theatrical productions) and others don’t have that much, but come into lessons eager to do more. I fully support these students in preparing for gigs, performances or auditions. However, some people are just beginning to sing and/or have had little or no performance experience. With these students, I work on gently easing them into performance, WHEN they feel that they are ready and only IF they wish to do so. I am careful to do this in a gentle and gradual way that does not involve experiences that are inappropriately challenging or excessively intimidating. I also respect and appreciate the fact that some just want to sing for their own enjoyment and I am happy to support a student with this perspective. Above all, I am committed to making the lessons a FUN and rewarding process and providing an opportunity for my students to learn and grow, in every possible sense.
