🏡 Cook Properties applauds HUD’s proposed modernization of manufactured housing regulations.

For decades, manufactured housing has been one of America’s most affordable pathways to homeownership. HUD’s proposed rule would remove outdated requirements that add unnecessary costs to the construction of multi-story manufactured homes while maintaining the safety and quality standards homeowners deserve.

This may sound like a technical change, but the impact for families could be substantial. By reducing construction costs and allowing for more innovative home designs, manufacturers will have greater flexibility to build larger, multi-story homes that better meet the needs of today’s families.

For many New York families, especially those with multiple children, aging parents living at home, or multi-generational households, affordable larger homes have often been difficult to find. Traditional manufactured housing has largely been limited to single-story designs. This proposal opens the door to more spacious floorplans, additional bedrooms, dedicated office space, and new home designs that can deliver more living space without sacrificing affordability.

At Cook Properties, we’ve long believed that manufactured housing is one of the most effective tools available to address New York’s housing affordability challenges.
