Meet Sharon. Sharon is a member of the Kalinjin tribe living in Narok, and this was when we first met her last year. She was attending the only school in the region that had a special needs class - Masikonde Primary School. Our friend Isaac’s sister-in-law Veronica is one of two special-ed teachers at this elementary school. Karen was invited to help teach there and leaped at the opportunity. - Karen’s working on her Masters degree in Education. She was the first to meet Sharon who has been a member of this classroom for years. Sharon is 23. On the ride back to our room, she brought us up to date on Sharon’s story. This is where our story with Sharon begins. It is not where it ends.

The Sekenani Birthing Center is finally under construction! We will soon be on site sending additional pictures as the project continues. Many thanks to those that led us to this site, especially Vivian Cunningham and Isaac Parsaloi Kasura. Their help continues to be invaluable! Thank you to everyone for helping provide the much needed pre/post natal care that is so sorely needed in this region! YOU ARE SAVING LIVES!

It's hard to believe that six years have passed since we lost our dear friend, Jim. We're grateful that he continues to help guide us. He would have loved to be a part of the new Birthing Center Project at Masai Mara! Don't worry... he will be.

Our next project has us moving from northern Nyanza Province to the southern part of the Rift Valley. Green and lush farming plots are replaced with miles of grasslands and spotty trees. Although the landscape has changed, the people are just as wonderful and welcoming. The Masai will be the benefactors of the birthing center we plan to build. It will not only serve as a clean and safe environment for childbirth, but it will also provide vital pre and post-natal care that is currently non-existent in the area. Please look at these pictures and say "hello" to our newest friends!
