OACES

On Monday, we had the incredible opportunity to attend the grand opening of the newly renovated Maplewood Community Library! This library is one of our Literacy Zone Welcome Centers and a key community partner of OACES. We are so proud of the Maplewood staff for all the hard work they’ve put in to make these renovations happen, and we heard from local politicians about all the work it took to accomplish this vision. Congratulations, Maplewood Library! Visit them and check out the new space!

Thanks to all of the amazing nursing students from URMC who participated in our Literacy Zone Health Fair yesterday! OACES students learned about blood pressure, emergencies, ergonomics, and dental care. We are so grateful for this incredible partnership with University of Rochester School of Nursing and all the important work they do. Thank you!

Wednesday was a perfect day for our field trip to the Rochester Red Wings game! We had a blast at the baseball stadium for Education Day. Woohoo!

We are so proud of our GED student, Negineh Safi, for her NYACCE Student of the Year Award! In Albany last week, Negineh was recognized for her achievements during an award dinner with other student winners from around the state. Negineh was chosen for this honor because of her hard work, perseverance, and dedication. We can’t stop thinking about it! Congratulations again, Negineh!
