but it is never as costly
as not caring.

Once we’ve chosen to invest even our hardest lessons into others, they become more asset,
and less liability;

Even our demons,
crave camaraderie.

We again thank Ed for freely and graciously sharing with us the mostly-mysterious pieces of an often-clandestine puzzle.

He is a teacher like no other,
and as with us- is driven by discontent, but never limited by it;

For better or worse,
there is no off-season
for the truly purpose-driven.

I can seldom sit still,
and my brain is often a mess.

My confidence is s**t,
and there are days I don’t even
want to get dressed.

Misery is sneaky,
and it frequently attacks me,
but I know its tricks and traps,
and have no plans to go easy.

When the dark won’t light,
and covers like a blanket,
I never lose sight of the fact
that I’ve earned it…

I’ve never made an easy choice
to avoid making the right one,
and I’ve fallen hard
so many times
the damage can’t be undone.

But.

If trial and turmoil
are part-and-parcel
of a life lived to full potential…

I’ll weather the arrows,
stitch the wounds,

and never lose forest for trees,

if the reward
is going out on my shield
alongside friends like these.
