As this becomes part of their daily routine, parents are unable to focus on important economic activities and cannot monitor their young children. Additionally, the water that many people collect from open-top wells is contaminated with dangerous microbes, which tend to cause both short-term and long-term diseases. When people consume this water, they face a perilous future of either spending their life savings on healthcare or losing their lives altogether.
