Chip sealing is a low-cost way municipalities extend pavement life. Here is our annual reminder to take care when riding on streets that are being chip sealed. The slick emulsion underneath the gravel can make bikes slide around a bit. Being in a low gear that allows you to spin your legs faster gives you more stability. Squeezing the brakes gently also helps.
