Queer Handmade Rochester

Hello everyone!
We are looking for volunteers for our 7th Annual Q***r Handmade Arts Festival Saturday June 27th & Sunday June 28.

We are looking for:
- Early birds to help set up 6:30-9:30am on Saturday and check in vendors at unloading.
- Folks to help both days at our welcome booth and offering artists breaks to use the bathroom starting at 9:30am.
- Help with take down and cleanup on Sunday at 3:30p.

Let us know if you can come help out anywhere from 2 hours or all day.

In Honor of Trans Day of Visibility! We wanted to highlight some of the trans folks of our community and celebrate them!

What does being visibly trans mean to you?
“Being out and being seen. Really being authentically me; not compromising any part of who I am.”

What is bringing you joy right now?
“Music is a huge thing that helps me cope with the world and brings me joy. Especially metalcore and punk music.”

He shared his love of music and theater with us and told us about his favorite band “Set it Off” (picture included) which has been a great source of joy for him. Very cool!

“To me, being visibly trans means to live unapologetically and for myself rather than structuring who I am around the expectations of anyone else.”

What is bringing you joy right now?
“Reading, making art, and spending time with friends.”

They shared their love of horror books and movies with us, as well as showing us their incredibly beautiful work space surrounded by their plants and illuminated by a skylight. So lovely!
