Look for RENEW partners, the Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning and Monroe County, at the FREE “Healthy Pots, Healthy Homes” event from 12-2 PM, Saturday, June 26 at Foodlink Farm, 585 Lexington Ave, Rochester, NY 14613.

This free community event aims to advance understanding of lead hazards in soil, food, and other products. Community members are invited to bring old pots and pans to exchange for safer cookware while learning about lead exposure in cookware and toxins in soil.

According to guidance from the USFDA, some commonly used imported aluminum or brass cookware, including certain caldero-style pots, may leach lead into food during cooking. The event will also feature food trucks for lunch, $10 curbside market vouchers (while supplies last; SNAP/WIC accepted), live cooking demonstrations with a nutrition educator, tips on safe cooking practices, identifying lead risks, and reducing soil contamination, and FREE resources and education for the whole community.
