Maddie Cakes started out of my home, where I was a one woman show for a few years, and as I watched my business (hobby) grow, I felt that it was time to expand - leading to the plaza. My background is in the fine arts, and I have a Master's Degree in Art Therapy and Counseling. I've always had a passion for baking and cooking (I get it from my momma!), and especially decorating. I'm not one for sharing my feelings and too much of my personal life on social media, but today, this hit hard.
As I sit here on the floor of the shop front in tears, I'm reminded of the beginning, my hopes and dreams, the excitement of a new adventure, choosing to open in the community I grew up in, and all the goals I hoped to achieve.
My tears are a mix of grief and loss, but also gratefulness. I've been so blessed by God for this opportunity, to share my gifts, to make new relationships and friends, and to be a special part of other people's memories and events. I'm so thankful for my family and all they've sacrificed for my dream. I hope I've made them proud.
Sometimes, knowing when to close a chapter is just as important as the dream to start a new one.
Here's to 2026 friends... this isn't goodbye, just a new beginning. ❤️❤️❤️
