Since that time Read Mountain Volunteers have served the community’s needs in cases of vehicle accidents, commercial and residential fires, and a variety of other emergency situations. In 1992 Read Mountain Fire & Rescue implemented a First Responder Program; providing patients Basic Life Support (BLS) and stabilization until an ambulance arrived to provide transport. In 1993 we upgraded our First Responder Program to Advanced Life Support (ALS); enabling Shock Trauma Technicians, Cardiac Technicians, and Paramedics to use ALS skills critical to many patients. To further enhance our patient care and service to the community, in 1997 we researched, planned, and implemented ambulance transport service. Read Mountain Fire & Rescue remains steadfast in our commitment to the community to provide quality fire protection and emergency medical care. Continuing this progress, Read Mountain added an additional pumper and ambulance to its fleet, giving the public more protection and services. We raise funds by door-to-door, letters, and activities at the station and through local businesses.
