In the U.S., the judicial branch performs critical duties unique to our country. Judges and justices primarily interpret and apply the law, ensuring equal justice for all. They resolve legal disputes among citizens, apply punishment to those who break the law, make decisions in civil cases, and determine innocence or guilt based on criminal laws.
