Earning the Prestigious Outstanding Performer Award at the Texas UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest

The Rio Grande City Band proudly congratulates Adrian Canales for earning the Outstanding Performer Award at the Texas UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest for the second consecutive year.

The Outstanding Performer Award is one of Texas’s highest honors for student musicians, recognizing exceptional performances at the Texas UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest.

Fewer than 2% of the more than 25,000 students who participated in the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest were selected as UIL Outstanding Performers and awarded the UIL State Champion Medal.

This achievement reflects Adrian’s exceptional talent and dedication, placing him among the elite student musicians in Texas.

Congratulations to the Rio Grande City High School band! They made history last weekend when they competed in the UIL Solo and Ensemble state competition for the first time in 23 years.

The group took home gold and a Division 1 rating at the event.

A total of 54 students went to state, and 37 took home medals for their solo performances.

The RGC Rattler Band hosted its annual Band Banquet today, where students were treated to a wonderful meal and recognized for their commitment to the band program. Sincere appreciation is extended to the RGCHS administration for their support and the outstanding photographic coverage of the event. We would also like to extend our appreciation to our band staff and band boosters for hosting a truly unforgettable banquet. 🎶❤️🐍
